Coach's Corner:

“I Feel Like I’m Cheating”

Recently I donated 2 coaching sessions for a networking event prize drawing.  The recipient seemed happy, however also a little hesitant.  She made a comment to me that presented a great point.  A point I hope to shift perspective on if there are other people that think or feel the same way.  With a sense of guilt she said “If I work with you, I feel like I’m cheating, because I already know a life coach in my other networking group.”  There are a few points to consider on that topic.

The first is every coach is vastly different in style, technique, training, life experience, personality and niche, just as every client is vastly different.  There are so many types of coaches from success, to relationship, to spiritual, to business and each coach offers a variety of talents.

When selecting a coach, it’s most important to find one that best matches you and you feel a connection with.  It’s not always based on what coach you know.  I have had potential clients that I referred to other coaches because I felt it was a better match in personality or niche.  The success of a coach/client relationship is based on rapport, compatibility and synergy.  My reputation is based on the results of my clients, so it’s important to consider what is truly best for my client so they can achieve all they are capable of.  In some cases, it may be necessary that they work with different coach, or that they work with a team of coaches.

Which brings me to my next point, which is that no rule states you can only work with one coach at a time.  In fact, you should hire as many as you need to get to the level of success you want.  Tiger Woods, the best golfer in the history of the game, has 3 coaches.  He’s the best of the best and he understands that to hold that title, he needs to improve himself every day.  He understands the value of surrounding himself with experts to bring out the best in him and to continuously challenge him to improve on his strengths.

The important thing is to find a coach that best suits your needs, more than one when necessary.   I have extensive training in communication, time management and sales as well as 17 years experience in health and wellness and mind-body synergy, however, I’m not an expert in all areas.  For instance, I had a client that also needed a fitness coach to provide an exercise program, along with my coaching to raise their life quality to the level they desired.

I ambitiously built an alliance team of all types of professionals in case my clients are in need of other services to move them closer to their goals.  It’s not possible to be the best in all areas.  However, it is very possible to be the best at one thing, and surround yourself with other world class professionals that are the best at what they do.  Together you make quite the A-team.

Perspective can hold you back from trying new things, enjoying new experiences, or learning more.  In some situations it could even hold you back from earning more, being happy, opportunities and the list goes on.  Your perspective is your reality.  So instead of feeling like you’re “cheating” if you work with more than one coach, see it as building a success team for yourself and being selective about who you hire.  One thing is for certain, partnering with a coach is a powerful way to take your life to a whole new level.

"COACH'S CORNER"

Welcome Friends and Super Achievers!  What a busy time of year!  Summer is a memory and Fall is just about here.  Are you slammed with a thousand things to do?  New routines to adjust to?  I know as a single Mom and business owner I am challenged constantly with keeping things in order.

We all wear many hats during the course of a day.  Why already this morning I was Drill Seargent (what a drag getting my youngest son up in the morning!), chef, maid, chauffuer, organizer, event coordinator, Mom and now writer and it's only 9 am!  Tell me, can you relate??

I am constantly asked how I manage to get it all done.  To be honest, some days I don't.  Yes, I admit, some days I throw my hands up and scream "Uncle"!  Life brings "surprises" in my life just like anyone else that alter my well-thought-out plan.  I have learned to handle all set-backs gracefully!  (let's say stress relieving strategies so I don't go crazy!)  One tip I offer is, be grateful for what you DID accomplish vs. looking at what you did not.  There's never enough time in the day to get it ALL done!  That has made a huge difference for me.

Let's face it, time stops for no one.  If it did, I would be lying on a beach somewhere with the clock on pause!!  We all have so much to do and only 24 hours everyday to do it.  Did you know that for every hour you invest in planning, you gain 3-4?  Time is precious and you can't get more of it, so get PLANNING!

Not sure where to start?  Call me for a sample session and we'll assess what is working for you and what is not.  I promise you'll walk away with a plan and stop time from slipping away on you!

Do you wonder what makes the difference in "Super Achievers"? How do they accomplish more than most everyone else?  How do they always seem to get what they really want in life?  And how can they be so darn happy all the time?   Movin to Success Avenue is for you!  Participate in an on-going bi-weekly course teaching you success principles and life skills to move you to the next level!

The Squirrels are Nuts!

I know what you're thinking, squirrels?  What?  Read on, this could jump start your business!

For the last week or so, I have been irritated with the mess the squirrels have made on my driveway.  There are little pieces of nutshells everywhere from the tree that overhangs.  I've been stepping on them, dragging them in my house and it has been seriously bothering me.  I mean watch out if you step on one barefoot!  Ouch!

I was walking to my truck and that's when it hit me, the nut that is, right on the head.  No kidding.  As I sat in my truck, I couldn't help but laugh out loud.  Following the nut, the thought hit me. How incredibly determined these little critters are!

They stop for nothing, in fact they are up before I am and they work all day at that tree, gathering nuts until it's dark outside.  Talk about determination!  Commitment!  Consistency!  Wow!  Who told them to work so hard?  How do they know the importance of gathering all those nuts for the winter?  It's not like they have a boss to report to, a promotion to work toward, etc.  Not to mention, how do they keep up the pace? They don't even drink Mountain Dew or coffee to stay awake!

Yes, I'm being sarcastic.  They have a purpose and their innate tells them how to fulfill it.  They are truly no different than humans in that regard.  We just tend to focus on why things are not possible, and how tired we are all the time.  Our days filled with daily distractions of thought, word and action, tv, video games, etc.  Perhaps we can take a lesson from the squirrels!

I mean these little go-getters are distracted by nothing!  I have sat with my sons and watched them  We laughed, but they are amazing.  Could squirrels really set the example for the rest of us?  Which leads me to my next question.

What would your business (or life) look like if you worked that determined?  Commited?  Consistent?   Think of the nuts as your leads.  No, I'm not trying to be funny here.  What I meant was, are you gathering leads to fill your sales pipeline, like the squirrels are gathering nuts to feed them through the winter?  That's what our pipeline is supposed to do right?  Feed our business over the course of time.  Are you getting what needs to be done, when it needs to be done, or putting it off until "later"?

Each sale starts as a lead, example a phone number, a referral, an email, etc.  Those leads are what fill your sales pipeline.  From there you qualify and advance your leads until you ultimately close a sale.

It should work like this:

lead==>qualified lead==>continue/advance==>customer==>repeat customer

So, again I'll ask what would your business look like 90 days from now if  you made the commitment RIGHT NOW to work determined like my furry little friends?  Leave no "nut" (lead) uncracked!
